Who we are

We are a network of organisations in Manchester, run by disabled people, and part of the Community Network for Manchester

We work within the social model of disability and are involved with a wide range of activities and impairment issues.

Some of our organisations have their own websites and you can find out more about them by following the links.


What we do

Some of the activities we have been involved with in Manchester include:
  • campaigning for more inclusive education
  • helping to develop children & young people's policies
  • involved with regeneration policies and activities in local neighbourhoods
  • active in neighbourhood policies including making housing and the environment more accessible
  • consulting on planning policies and design of buildings, the environment and transport
  • campaigning and helping to improve employment opportunities for disabled people
  • campaigning to make transport more accessible, including more accessible buses, trains, Metrolink, taxis and door to door services
  • campaigning and helping to make information and services more accessible
  • supporting access to and the delivery of the arts for and by disabled people, including libraries, theatres, art galleries, and performance art by disabled people
  • developing a Centre for Independent Living
  • consulting on Disability Equality Schemes
Publications

We have also produced the "Guidelines for Accessible Meetings and Events", available online.

Training:

Some member organisations can also offer training on disability equality issues, organising accessible meetings and events and on disability legislation.
